The Professional Trainers Clinic is an exciting new program launched by John and Jody Lyons in 2005.  It is the equivalent of Top Gun School for the Certified Trainers to improve and refine their training techniques under the direct instruction of John Lyon’s.  John also shared refined techniques to keep the trainers abreast of improvements John and Josh have discovered. Truly the best of the best were in attendance in 2005.

The session opened on Sunday night with a round table session and dinner at John and Jody Lyon’s “Our Dream Ranch.”  The trainers each were asked to write down their reasons for attending, as well as what information they would like to see covered in the coming week while riding with John.  In addition, each trainer discussed their business practices.  Many ideas were shared to help all of the trainers in attendance serve their clients better in the coming year.  All facets of business management were discussed, including ideas for facility maintenance, arena maintenance, equine nutrition and client management.  The dinner and roundtable discussion were invaluable.

Monday through Friday everyone rode with John, and all received one on one instruction directly from him. Since horse training has been an evolving experience for John and all of his trainers, many ideas were shared. Throughout the week all of the trainers were able to ask questions, and, as a group, training issues were resolved.  All in attendance felt enriched at the end of the week long session.

“The Professional Trainers Clinic was just great!  An opportunity once a year to update our training skills with John is just the ticket to motivate and jump start into the new season.  Our clients love the fact that we continue ongoing education with John and that we keep up to date with changes and improvements as they come along.  Staying consistent with the Lyons training methodology is the key to progressive training.

The clinic was challenging,  informative and best of all fun.  As a team, John and Jody inspired all of us to be the best we can be.  They led by example how fun the journey can and should be,  on both personal and business levels.  With open arms (and a fantastic bbq..mmmm) we were welcomed back to Colorado and our “home away from home”.    We look forward to the upcoming  2006 Professional Trainers Clinic."
